In Living Colour: Meet Sophie Robinson at the PTSB Ideal Home Show!

DFS is delighted to have journalist and sustainability advocate Jo Linehan as the expert host of the DFS Interiors Theatre this April. Over the weekend, she will be joined by an array of top industry experts, influential creatives and leading interior designers, including the designer, TV presenter, podcast host and colour expert Sophie Robinson.

Sophie is passionate about helping people bring colour and pattern to their interiors to create bright and joyful homes – a passion reflected in her new and exclusive furniture collection for DFS, which features on stage. At the heart of the new collection is bold colour. From bright buttercup yellow, to cobalt blue and vibrant fuschia, the tones in the range have been carefully selected to elevate and enhance any space with positivity and optimism.

Sophie’s collection and her talk at the DFS Interiors Theatre is designed to help people feel confident in their choices. Her collection with DFS offers a curated range where the designs, colours and patterns all work together beautifully, and they can learn how to confidently build up a colour and pattern palette that suits their personal style.

Sophie’s top tips to bringing colour into your home

Statement Silhouettes

“The sofa is often the biggest investment in the living room, so opt for a classic shape that is timeless in design but in a modern colour to keep things feeling fresh. And don’t listen to the trends when it comes to picking a colour, listen to your heart, that way it’ll never date, and you will always love it!”

The power of pattern

Making a bold fabric choice on a footstool or statement armchair really elevates the overall feel of the finished room.

I wanted to bring the pattern flair of bespoke upholstery to the high-street with this collection and we’ve really indulged in my love of beautiful quality fabrics and design details like contrast piping and buttoning, to make the statement armchairs and footstools look really special.”

Accessories that elevate

“I like a plain sofa and that way I can layer up the pattern with a blend of patterned scatter cushions. My go-to pattern recipe is to combine a floral, a geometric, a stripe and a plain, for the ultimate maximalist mix. The key to keeping it all hanging together is a really tight colour palette, and that’s what we’ve achieved with the cushion collection for DFS. I want people to feel playful in their interiors, and nothing should feel static, so this collection makes it possible to effortlessly switch things around and keep it looking fresh.”
