LauraLynn Children’s Hospice was established in 2011, and was founded by Jane and Brendan McKenna in memory of their two daughters, Laura and Lynn. Laura died in 1999, aged 4, when she was undergoing surgery for a heart condition, and on the same day her big sister Laura, aged 13, was diagnosed with Leukaemia, and died 20 months later. Having to undergo such tragedy in their lives, Jane and Brendan decided to found a children’s hospice and so LauraLynn Children’s Hospice became a reality in 2011.
Writer, Fran O’Brien heard Jane speak on the radio in 2004 about her great loss and was so moved, she and her husband, Arthur McGuinness, decided to publish one of Fran’s novels to raise funds for LauraLynn. Since then, they have published fifteen novels under the imprint McGuinness Books, and 100% of the proceeds are donated to LauraLynn. €680,000.00 has been donated to date and Fran and Arthur continue to raise funds for LauraLynn.
This amount of money raised is all thanks to the Irish public who have been extremely generous, and we meet many of them at the various shows where you will find the LauraLynn Children’s Hospice stand, as at the Ideal Homes Show in April, and we are very grateful to you and look forward to meeting you once again.Thank you. Fran and Arthur.
