Dublin Simon Community is one of Ireland’s oldest and most prominent homelessness charities and has been providing homeless services in Dublin for more than 50 years and now provides services to almost 7,500 people in Dublin, Wicklow, Kildare, Meath, Louth, Cavan and Monaghan. Our operational area reflects almost 80% of Ireland’s demand for homeless services.
We deliver services at all points of homelessness, from street outreach teams through to provision of independent housing. We are also the largest provider of homeless healthcare and treatment services and are currently constructing a 100-bed medical facility in Dublin city.
We are a service delivery charity providing frontline healthcare and social care services alongside support and fundraising teams. We rely on fundraising to operate many of our services and have a range of funding stakeholders for selected services including the Department of Housing, Dublin Region Homeless Executive, other local authorities and the HSE.
Currently almost 10,500 people are availing of emergency accommodation in Ireland. Those figures don’t include people sleeping rough, in women’s shelters, in direct provision or couch surfing and the actual figure of people experiencing homelessness in Ireland is substantially higher.
