Welcome to the  Interiors Inspiration Centre

More than ever, the way we furnish our homes is about expressing our personalities – showcasing to the world who we are and what we love. In interiors, everyone has a thing. It could be a bright thing, a luxe thing, a patterned or plain thing, a colourful or a neutral thing. These are the things that reflect who we are and shape how our lives and our homes look.

The DFS Interiors Inspiration Centre highlights four Irish creatives who have drawn inspiration from DFS’s campaign, which champions personality-led interiors by asking “What’s your thing?”.

What’s your thing? Susan McGowan

Athlone designer Susan McGowan, of Interior Architecture & Design Studio, Ashen & Cloud, is Creative Director for the DFS Interiors Inspiration Centre at the PTSB Ideal Home Show. A busy mum of three, Susan’s thing is helping people create homes that they really love. She has worked with DFS and the three other creatives who aim to inspire visitors and show how they’ve brought their thing’ to life ‘with DFS, at the DFS Interiors Inspiration Centre.

The Inspiration Centre takes the form of four very different room sets packed full of personality, where you can browse DFS products for inspiration.
Susan says, “I look forward to welcoming everyone to the DFS Inspiration Centre at the PTSB Ideal Home Show. I really enjoy helping people create homes that they love, and I know there will be plenty for people to draw inspiration from no matter what their taste is in interiors. My talk this year is about mixing and matching furniture, to create a home that suits your lifestyle.”

The DFS Inspiration Stage is the jewel in the crown, where Jo Linehan will join many of Ireland’s leading designers and creatives to share ideas and talk about the latest trends. In designing this space, Susan has chosen the on trend Izzie curved boucle sofa from DFS, which sits centre stage. This statement piece is paired with the latest addition to the popular French Connection range exclusively at DFS, the Camden chair, now available in stylish chenille. The round DFS Suki coffee table in wood and brass mirrors the curves of the sofa to create a space that feels welcoming and sophisticated.

At the design hub in the DFS Interiors Inspiration Centre, DFS and their ‘thingsters’ will be providing plenty of support to help visitors find their own thing, whatever their taste might be. In this autumn-inspired space, visitors will be able to take a seat on the Tenby sofa from the Grand Designs collection exclusively at DFS, or the striking Bellissima accent chair, and ask any questions they have about interior trends, DFS products, or finding their own style.

What’s your thing? Keeping things pretty

Caoimhe McGinley, a busy mum of four, is known for her Instagram account @thebighillhouse. Her feed highlights a wonderful mixture of hard work, interior projects, family life, exercise tips and – every Friday – a touch of glamour with her ‘fancy Friday’ series! !

Caoimhe is happiest when she has a project on the go and painted her entire Tyrone home herself. She is passionate about fashion, travel and interior design, and encourages her followers not to save the best for special occasions only, but use them everyday, to inject daily life with a touch of glamour.

Caoimhe fell in love with the new Joules Thornton bedroom range, and chose the statement bed frame and accent chair Festival Floral print, together with the storage ottoman in red ticking stripe. Paired with chic matching bedside tables and a chest of drawers from DFS’s French-inspired Camille range, the result is a space that offers a pretty, contemporary country look.
